My story

My story

Hi, I'm Mary Louise!

For over two decades, my life was shaped by eating disorders. When I finally began my recovery, I faced a difficult realization: I was in my mid-30s and had little sense of who I was outside of my illness. This awareness sparked an existential crisis that left me feeling stuck but also determined to no longer let life pass me by.

Since then, I’ve been navigating a new chapter that includes managing ulcerative colitis and other health issues, along with difficult family dynamics. Alongside these challenges, I’ve been rebuilding my sense of self and learning how to live with more awareness and agency. It’s an ongoing journey, and each day I find new ways to learn and grow.

These past few years, I’ve had countless in-depth conversations with people from all walks of life and discovered how many of us go through life on autopilot, disconnected from what we need, want and value. It’s never too late to make changes and this space is where I explore what it means to build a life that feels more like our own.

Here you'll find content and conversations around health, relationships, recovery, modern life, self-trust and all the steps and experiments that help us live more intentionally. In my weekly Friday Musings, I share personal notes, inspiring links, books, videos, cultural rabbit holes and questions worth sitting with.
