Creating spaciousness

To kick off the week, I'd like to share the key message from a recent meditation session I participated in. The teacher encouraged us all to introduce more spaciousness into our lives by letting go of things that no longer served us well. She suggested taking time to reflect and identify areas where we could "declutter" our lives.
One approach she recommended is creating four columns on a journal or piece of paper: one for our physical space (such as home, office, or car), one for our mental space (thoughts, plans, worries), one for our "heart space" (relating to relationships and emotional burdens), and one for our schedule (covering work, family commitments, and leisure time). Then, we should ask ourselves which aspects require the most decluttering and consider what we could eliminate.
This was a timely reminder for me. I know I need to declutter my physical space, but I keep postponing. I started giving away some books and getting rid of worn-out clothes last year, but that's nothing compared to all the stuff I still have lying about and don't use or need. I mean, I wouldn't call myself a hoarder, but I'm certainly not a minimalist either. I know I would feel much better if I lived in a tidier and "roomier" environment. I'd probably be happier and more productive as well (there are many studies discussing the negative effects that clutter has on one's well-being). I guess my difficulty with letting go applies here as well.
As for my mental and heart space, I definitely still have work to do when it comes to regrets, worries, and emotional burdens, but I'm actively tackling those aspects. As far as my schedule goes, I definitely committed to too many theater classes (but they do bring me joy)!
How about you? What are ways you could welcome more spaciousness into your life? Let us know in the comments, along with any other questions or insights you may have. You can also send me an email or book a call to talk about where you're at in life and where you'd like to go. And as always, don't forget to share this with someone who may find it useful!
