Friday Musings—09/02/24

In case you missed it, this week's post was about creating more spaciousness in our lives, allowing us to feel lighter and make room for new and better things!
Today, I'll keep it short and sweet, but I'd like to share my progress with the "Reclaim your brain" challenge and keep the good news corner going. Don't forget, you can email me your good news—whether it's something you've heard in the news or a personal win—and I'll add it to one of the next newsletters. Or simply share some positivity in the comments. Let's become a hub for positivity in a world filled with so much bad news!
A special shout out to those of you who took part in the "Intentional goal setting" workshop yesterday. It was lovely to share our life visions, and we had so much to talk about. It was also my first time organizing an event like this, so the fact I was met with all this support and encouragement was amazing, and I also had a lot of fun!
Cool stuff 😎
"Reclaim your brain" Week 2 – Last week's focus was realizing just how much time we spend on our phones and calculating what it adds up to in a year. This week's task is to make some changes so you can take back control. Your phone should be a tool, not a temptation, so redesign your home screen to contain only tools (like maps and banking apps) and not time sinkers.
What are the most problematic apps for you—the ones that keep you scrolling forever? Go ahead and delete them for a week and see how that goes. You can always reinstall them later, but you may be surprised at how little you miss them. Another option is to hide them in a folder on interior pages—I put my FB, IG, and Messenger app in a folder, and I've barely looked at them these past few days. I didn't spend much time on them, but I would occasionally scroll for a few minutes while standing in line or waiting for food to arrive, etc. The added step of having to find the folder and open it has been enough to help me be more mindful.
Finally, silence all unnecessary notifications (this is something I did a long time ago and I can attest it makes a huge difference to your focus) and create "no-phone zones" in the house or office, e.g. your bedroom at night.
Good news corner 🌈
Last-chance pets – Heartwarming stories (with pics!) of wonderful humans providing lots of care and love to old and sick pets.
Quote of the week ✍️
"Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have". (Margaret Mead)
As always, I welcome your insights or questions in the comments. You can also send me an email or book a call to talk about where you're at in life and where you'd like to go. Don't forget to share this with someone who may find it useful.
Enjoy your weekend and TTYS
