Friday Musings—Daily intentions

What's new with me

It’s been a challenging week, especially with some family dynamics that need sorting out. It’s funny how on Monday, I wrote about listening more and having crucial conversations, and now I’m facing important conversations I’m struggling to sustain.

Daily intentions

This month, I’ve been starting my day with SarahBeth’s 30-day yoga challenge. I already practice yoga daily, but I liked that these short classes all begin with a "mantra card"—a simple way to set a daily intention.

I’ve written before about what yoga has taught me, including the power of setting an intention for the day ahead. It helps me be more mindful of the energy and mindset I bring into my actions and relationships. But over the past few months, I let this part of my practice slide, so this challenge has been a timely reminder of just how valuable it is. If you're interested, the classes are part of this teacher’s free content on YouTube.

Facebook’s Retreat from Fact-Checking

I recently listened to an interesting podcast by The Guardian on Zuckerberg’s evolution and Meta’s decision to dismantle its fact-checking network. If you’ve read my latest post, you know I touched on ‘filter bubbles’ and how misinformation spreads—this episode explores that shift in real time.

That said, I’m not really interested in judging or pointing fingers. But I do try to stay informed so I can be more mindful of my own social media use. Over time, I’ve also become much more selective about the sources I trust, making it a habit to verify what I hear or read. As I’ve mentioned in previous musings, I also strive to verify the quotes I share each week, and it's not always easy!

NotebookLM analyzes Mindful rebooting

The other day, I decided to try NotebookLM, a free research and note-taking tool from Google Labs. You upload content, and its AI generates notes, briefings, and even “audio overviews”—like a mini podcast where two speakers summarize the content conversationally.

I uploaded my site’s URL, and the AI-generated discussion was surprisingly funny. The two speakers actually gave me some fresh insights into my own posts—but they also weirdly fixated on the Friday musings edition where I talked about Cattelan’s duct-taped banana, reading all sorts of things into it!

Here’s the summary NotebookLM made for my blog—do you think it managed to capture its essence?

Quote of the week ✍️

"Seek first to understand, then to be understood."  (Stephen R. Covey)

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Which musing resonated with you the most? Are there any topics you’d like me to explore in future newsletters? Have suggestions or insights to share? Let me know in the comments. Also, I'm offering 20-minute free mindful chats—a safe space for you to be heard and explore what’s on your mind. It's also a chance for me to connect and better understand how I can create content that truly resonates.

If you know someone who might enjoy my musings or benefit from a mindful chat, please share this post with them. I think we could all benefit from making this a bigger community (and I'm terrible at promoting myself!).

Enjoy your weekend and TTYS
