Start here—what this space is about

Hi, I’m Mary Louise, and this blog is where I document personal experiments in being a more mindful and intentional human.
I started writing during my recovery from over two decades of eating disorders, and while facing new health issues (from ulcerative colitis to hormonal imbalances and chronic fatigue) and challenging family dynamics. I needed somewhere to think things through and make sense of what I was experiencing—to figure out who I am and how I want to live. Along the way, I began sharing the lessons I was learning, in case they could be useful to others navigating change, rethinking how they want to live, and trying to take better care of themselves.
Over time, this space has become a kind of personal lab, where I explore what it means to live more deliberately—from small, practical shifts that help me feel better (body mind and soul), to bigger questions about how we communicate and navigate today's biggest challenges. I write about what I’m trying: nervous system practices, routines, mindset changes. I also reflect on the world we’re living in and share content I find inspiring or noteworthy.
Some posts are personal. Others are sparked by something I’ve read or watched. But the thread running through it all is this: paying closer attention, and asking what might change—internally or externally—once we do.
Most weeks, I share personal updates, reflections and media content in my Friday Musings. Once or twice a month, I also publish a longer post where I dig a little deeper into a specific theme, experiment, or idea I’m exploring. What I write is often shaped by the conversations I’m having—in my life, my work, and with the people who read this blog. My yoga practice, coaching experiences, and travels are other common sources of inspiration and reflection.
